
KARABÝGA ÝÇDAÞ SAILING CLUB
With the proposal and sponsorship of ÝÇDAÞ A.Þ., one of Turkey’s biggest Industrial enterprise, and also with the contributions of Karabiga Municipality, Karabiga ÝÇDAÞ Sailing School is founded on the coast of Kaleler district, which is one of Turkey’s best locations in terms of wind and route. The school commenced with its activities on 21 June 2004, after a short preparation period of 3 months, and the official opening ceremony was held on 15 July 2004.
Free tutorships and training are given to 80 students in the age group of 7-15 (knowing how to swim) between 21 June-15 September.
In our club which draw great interest after opening; every summer we offer to our children, who feel suffocated after a long academic year, an environment where they can spend their holiday and develop friendship and sailing skills under the supervision of their coaches.
The race team selected from amongst the successful students participate in national and international sailing competitions in representation of their region. Our sportsmen have shown success in the national and international competitions by climbing the podium 70 times within the last three years. Together with the sporting competitive spirit, the friendship between our youth also gains strength.
Karabiga ÝÇDAÞ Sailing Club is the only club showing activities in water sports branch in its region. ÝÇDAÞ AÞ sponsors and hosts the Marmara Group Championship Sailing Competition, which was being held with the participation of 250 competitors, for the last two years. Karabiga ÝÇDAÞ Sailing Club will continue its works also this year without any interruption, to raise sailors and seamen for our country, a country surrounded by three seas.
